Comprehensive Cryptocurrency Wallet Privacy Ratings
Our privacy rating system provides an objective analysis of how different cryptocurrency wallets handle user data. We evaluate each tool based on its ability to resist deanonymization and its commitment to user sovereignty.
Tier 1: Maximum
Wallets that are open-source, require no KYC, and have native Tor integration.
Tier 2: High
Wallets with strong security but slight leaks in metadata or proprietary components.
Tier 3: Moderate
Standard wallets that offer basic encryption but rely on centralized nodes.
Tier 4: Low
Custodial wallets and exchange-based accounts that track all user activity.
Our Scoring Methodology
The ratings are derived from a rigorous testing process where we monitor network traffic using packet sniffers and analyze the source code for hidden backdoors or telemetry functions. We prioritize the 'Trustless' model, where the user does not need to trust the developer.
- IP Leakage Test: Does the wallet expose the user's IP?
- Metadata Analysis: Is transaction data stripped of identifying markers?
- Audit History: Has the wallet undergone a professional third-party audit?
- Governance: Is the project managed by a transparent community?
Ratings are updated monthly to reflect software updates and new vulnerability discoveries in the crypto ecosystem.
